That Other Thing I Do On This Blog

You know what it is! Here's some pics from last week: a trip to the waterpark and Fourth o' July.

Fourth of July bubbles.

We drove 30 miles to see the best fireworks show around, at Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton. They have koi in their duck pond that have lived there since I was a kid. The things are freakin' enormous.

One of the smaller ones next to a duck for scale.

We hauled ass up to the highest point of the golf course to watch the fireworks. They were late getting started, so the kids played with glow sticks.

The rest of the crowd up on the golf course.

I was pretty disappointed over how my fireworks pics turned out. It's really depressing when I go into a situation with a "real" camera for the first time, and the pics look worse than they would have with my point-and-shoot. This time, though, I had excuses: I'd been flu-y the night before, and I was holding a tired baby that needed to be jiggled, so I only had one hand free, and I couldn't focus my camera half the time since my autofocus doesn't work at night and you can't do manual focus with one hand. So I was justified in having a bunch of blurry-ass pics. I managed to get a few that didn't totally suck, though.

I love your photos! I'm a newcomer to your blog, thanks to the "Pit to Distress" scandal - which has inspired me to finally start my own doula-to-be blog, actually - and I've been perusing it for the last few days. On top of the great posts on birthy stuff, I've loved seeing your little ones grow! What a cool bonus.

Cheers!
